About Southend Lions Club
The Lions Club of Southend on Sea was formed on the 21st May 1970.
There are 28 members in our club, Southend Lions are ordinary people who do extraordinary things to help others and support good causes within our local borough, the British Isles and internationally.
All donations raised by us are used within our charity account for good causes. We do not use any funds that are raised from our local community for our administrative accounts.
We are part of the international association of Lions clubs, which is the largest service organisation in the world, with over 1.4 million members in more than 43,000 Clubs in 714 districts covering 182 countries and geographic areas.
Our aims are;
To promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.

To unite the Clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.
About Lions Club International
Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organisation. We are a network of over 1.3 million men and women in over 43,000 clubs in 182 countries. We are involved in conducting and supporting vision and health screenings, building parks, awarding scholarships, assisting youth, providing help in times of disaster and much more. Lions International donates over 5.7 million hours and £88 million to humanitarian causes each year. As a member of a Lions club you become aware of the needs of your community and have the opportunity to make a difference. Each club provides volunteers with project management experience, leadership training, personal development opportunities and organised fund-raising programmes. We are committed in our joint mission to help others in a way that no one person could do alone.
Since founded in 1970, we have raised over £300,000 to support charitable causes within the Southend Community.
Over the last 10 years we have raised £70,457 and raise an average of £7,000 a year.
Our mission is to support those less privileged in Southend-On-Sea and take an active stance to promote community values and helping others.
Our motto is "We Serve" as we do just that, directly helping hundreds of people each year.
Our club meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month and we welcome new members who share our vision and want to join us on our mission.
